Droughts have increased dramatically since 2000 due to climate changes

More severe droughts will happen more often because of climate changes
Droughts frequency is growing in the countries around the world.

The number and frequency of droughts on the planet have increased by 29% in the past 22 years due to climate change, UN report says.

As a result, roughly one-third of the Earth's population, 2.3 billion people, now face the risk of water scarcity.

The numbers shows an upward going tendency in the duration of droughts and the severity of impacts. It’s not about only human societies but also the ecological systems upon which the survival of all life depends, including that of our own species, Yahoo! News informs.
