'LOTR' star Viggo Mortensen decided to take a dementia screening test due to genetic inheritance

Both parents of Lord of the Rings star Viggo Mortensen have struggled with dementia, and three other family members have also experienced the condition. That's why the 63-year-old actor had a blood test to determine if he was genetically predisposed to developing the syndrome.
“They said — remarkably because my family is rife with it on both sides — they said, ‘You don’t seem likely to get it at all.
“Of course, one never knows. I try to make the most of every day because someday it will all be over. All you can do is make the most of the time you have,” he tells Page Six exclusively.
