Elvis' director Baz Luhrmann revealed why Harry Styles didn't get the lead role
Many people thought he was the one to play the King of Rock 'n' Roll.
Harry Styles really wanted to play the role of the King of Rock and Roll in Baz Luhrmann's Elvis, but it was not to be. The director of the biographical film explained why the role ended up going to Austin Butler.
Luhrmann revealed that Stiles didn't get the role for an unusual reason. According to Baz, Harry is already an "icon," meaning he is too famous to play Elvis Presley.
"Harry is a really talented actor. I would work on something with him ... but the real issue with Harry is, he's Harry Styles. He's already an icon. He's such a great spirit and I have nothing but great things to say about Harry Styles," Page Six quoted Luhrmann.
