‘God Bless the Queen:’ Sex Pistols’ John Lydon congrats Her Majesty for Jubilee
John Lydon — a.k.a. Johnny Rotten, leader of the Sex Pistols and Public Image Ltd. — has written his thought about monarchy.
“God bless the Queen. She’s put up with a lot,” he writes in editorial for the U.K.’s Times. “I’ve got no animosity against any one of the royal family. Never did. It’s the institution of it that bothers me and the assumption that I’m to pay for that. There’s where I draw the line. It’s like, ‘No, you’re not getting ski holidays on my tax.’”
The most surprising thing is the refutation of the slogans that he put forward at the beginning of his career. The musician called „anarchy a terrible idea“, which contradicts Anarchy in the UK, and also wishes "God bless the Queen", against the single God save the Queen (“and the fascist regime”).
