‘I’ve always thought of myself as a coward:' Will Smith revealed the shocking episode from his childhood

'I saw my father beat up my mother:' Will Smith revealed why he thinks he is a coward

The fourth season episode of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman has been released on Netflix. The next guest was 53-year-old Will Smith, notorious for slapping Chris Rock at the last Oscars.

Many expected Smith to comment on this embarasing episode, but it turned out that the episode was recorded before March 2022, that is, before the Oscar ceremony.

However, Smith spoke about the difficult relationship in his family when he was a child. He touched upon his recent memoir, Will, speaking about his childhood and the contentious relationship between his father and mother.

“The first line of the first chapter is, ‘I’ve always thought of myself as a coward,” Smith explained to Letterman, according to PageSix. “When I was nine years old, I saw my father beat up my mother, and I didn’t do anything. And that just left a traumatic impression of myself as a coward.”
