And that love is herself.
Mary J. Blige spoke about her journey and creative career while receiving the Icon Award at the Billboard Music Awards 2022. She said the point of all her music was that we are not alone in our struggles, and that she is not alone now.
"For so long, I was searching for a real love, but I finally found my real love. And that real love is me," she added.
The 54-year-old singer and actress also said that the road to the Icon Award was not easy for her, People informs. She had to work hard and make vital decisions, and that it took her a lot of time.
