'In person or virtually': Will Smith banned from all Academy events for 10 years
The decision of The Board of Governors comes into force on April 8, 2022.
Will Smith was banned from attending all Academy events - he was officially banned. This decision was made by The Board of Governors today, April 8.
"Mr. Smith shall not be permitted to attend any Academy events or programs in person or virtually, including but not limited to the Academy Awards," the official statement reads.
The ban will be in effect for 10 years, from today until April 8, 2032, reports Page Six. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences also issued a formal apology to Chris Rock for the Oscar slap he received from Will.
