Selma Blair confessed she had been drinking since she was 7 years old
The actress believes that it saved her from personal trauma.
Selma Blair admitted that she first got drunk at age 7. In her upcoming memoir, Mean Baby, she will talk about her struggle with alcoholism. The book will go on sale May 17, but she has already shared some of her biography.
In a recent interview, Selma, 49, said she had suffered from alcoholism since childhood, but it was a "survival mechanism."
"Maybe even the first few years for me because I did start really young with that as a comfort, as my coping mechanism. It was hard. But maybe it was made easier. Maybe I would have never survived without a drink," she told People.
