Taika Waititi says LGBT love in 'Toy Story' spin-off 'Lightyear' is VERY important
The film was previously banned in the UAE because of gay themes.

Taika Waititi has spoken out about the banning of the Toy Story spin-off Lightyear in the UAE. This happened because homosexuality and movies showing same-sex relationships are banned in this Muslim country.

The world premiere of Lightyear is scheduled for June 15. Taika believes that homosexual relations in the spin-off is very important, and the banning of the film is telling. After all, it demonstrates that there are still bans on love in the world.

The director hopes that one day people around the world will be able to normalize all love, Metro writes.

"You never hear people going, 'Oh, did you see that movie where that man and that woman kissed?!' If we can just let that go, love is love, if we can normalise it, then we're moving towards a good space," Waititi said.
