What are 'pampushkas'? Learn how Ukrainians serve traditional borscht
Australian chef Hiroko Liston shared a recipe for serving traditional Ukrainian borscht. According to him, this is how this dish is eaten in Ukraine, and it is always served with pampushky.
'What a cute name 'Pampushky' is for these Ukrainian bread rolls! 'Pampushky' have a similar texture to doughnuts, and they can be baked or fried," the chef said on his blog.
Hiriko said that for the dough you will need 2 cups of flour, 2 teaspoons (7 g) of dry yeast, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 2 eggs (they will need to be beaten), ½ cup of warm milk, 2 tablespoons of sunflower oil.
For glazing, you will need a little egg white and garlic or dill oil. Pampushki are prepared in the same way as donuts, any housewife can handle it. Ready donuts should be served and eaten with borscht.
