'Mattel' gives Queen Elizabeth II her own Barbie doll for her 96th birthday
Toy manufacturer Mattel has released a limited edition of Barbie dolls in honor of the 96th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II and her 70th birthday on the throne. The Queen has been turned into a Barbie doll for her platinum jubilee.
The doll, dressed in an ivory gown with a blue ribbon, is adorned with a tiara worn by the Queen on her wedding day and pink and blue ribbons given to her by her father George VI and grandfather George V.
Today dolls will go into production, BBC informs.
Queen Barbie is part of a Mattel tribute collection dedicated to outstanding personalities. Queen Barbie dolls will go on sale in London in June, when the UK will celebrate the 70th anniversary of Elizabeth II on the throne.
