Kay Mellor, the writer of the acclaimed series Fat Friends and The Syndicate, died at the age of 71. She passed away last weekend, her death was sudden.
Kay is survived by her husband Anthony and their two daughters, Dancing on Ice star Gaynor Faye and television producer Yvonne Frankas. The series Fat Friends was a turning point for many of the actors who played there and launched their careers.
In 2012 Kay wrote the BBC drama Syndicate, which became a TV series, and she also wrote the script for Band of Gold (1995-1997) and a number of feature films, including Girls Night. Kay has also acted in films herself, The Sun informs.
