Famous fashion designer Elie Tahari, who now rules his own fashion empire, confessed that in the beginning of the 70-ies he had hard times. The designer said that when he moved to New York, he got a job at a car wash for 50 cents an hour.
The Israeli found himself in New York early in his career with only $100. When money for housing quickly ran out, he found himself on the street. It's hard to believe, but Eli was homeless for a while and even slept on a bench in Central Park, NYP writes.
The United States of Elie Tahari recently premiered his documentary, "The United States of Elie Tahari," in which he recounted his journey from a homeless boy in the great city of New York to a celebrated couturier.
