Former NY Mets prospect Darwyn Encarnacion died in car crash at 21

Former New York Mets prospect Darwyn Encarnacion died this week in a horrific car accident in the Dominican Republic. He was only 21 years old.

According to a source, Encarnacion was driving his SUV, but for an unknown reason, he fell off a bridge and crashed into the ground. He survived the impact but suffered injuries from which he later died at a nearby hospital.

Encarnacion signed a minor league contract with the Mets in March 2019 and played with a .248 average through October 2020, TMZ writes.
