Gregory Porter tells us why he never takes off his "jazz hat"
The musician hides something underneath that he thinks is ugly.
The greatest soul singer and two-time Grammy Award winner Gregory Porter confessed why he never takes off his hat. This "jazz hat," as he calls the hat himself, has become the singer's trademark by which he is recognized around the world.
It turns out that Gregory wears the hat during public performances to hide the scars that were left on his head after surgery.
"I've had some surgery on my skin, so this has been my look for a little while and will continue to be for a while longer. People recognize me by it now. It is what it is. I want to be less about my hat and more about my heart and my sound," The Sun quoted Porter.
