Jennifer Grey says Matthew Broderick didn't believe in her during the 'Dirty Dancing' casting
Her then-boyfriend thought she wouldn't get the part of Baby.
Jennifer Grey wrote in her new memoir Out of the Corner that Matthew Broderick didn't believe she would get the role in Dirty Dancing. According to her, the boyfriend she dated in the late '80s thought the role of Frances "Baby" Houseman would not go to her.
He even said this on the eve of her 1986 audition, NYP says.
"He said this odd thing, as if to reassure himself, like he wasn't aware he was using his 'out loud voice. I don't know what I'm worried about. There's no way you're gonna get it. I'm sure they're seeing everybody for this part," she remembered Matthew's words.
