Matthew McConaughey met with families of the school shooting victims

He flew to his hometown of Uvalde, where tragedy struck.

Matthew McConaughey, who was born and raised in Uvalde, Texas, flew to his hometown to support local residents after the school shooting. Two teachers and 19 children were killed in the mass shooting.

TheOscar winner arrived in Uvalde last Friday. He spent time with community members at the community center, including the families of those killed in the attack.

The mass murder occurred May 24 at an elementary school. Where an armed gunman broke in and shot two adults and children between the ages of 7 and 10. The shooter turned out to be Salvador Ramos, an 18-year-old local resident, who was shot dead on the spot by police, BuzzFeed reported.
