About a million people fled to Romania from the conflict zone.

The Prince of Wales has arrived in Romania to show his support for refugees in that country and to see first-hand the assistance being provided.

This is the first visit of a representative of senior monarchs since the situation in Europe was complicated by a military conflict. According to the latest data, about a million refugees from Eastern Europe settled in Romania.

Prince Charles visited a centre near Bucharest, which supports the rising number of refugees.

He met families who had come to get supplies of food and clothes and aid workers explained the current pressures, BBC reports.
