The actor is sure that it would be unnatural and inauthentic.

Tom Hanks admitted that he would not play a gay man in a movie now. He is sure that straight actors should not portray LGBT characters in movies and on television.

The actor won his first Oscar for his role in the 1993 film Philadelphia, in which he played a gay man struggling with HIV, who is discriminated against and fired from his job.

"Let's address 'Could a straight man do what I did in Philadelphia now?' No, and rightly so," he said.

He added that it was a film of that time that could not be made now, according to People.
