He and Ruth decided they would keep a positive attitude.

Tony Audenshaw of Emmerdale revealed how they lived with his wife Ruth when she was fatally diagnosed. The couple decided to keep a positive attitude and live as if they were just having a happy and quiet time in retirement.

Ruth died of pancreatic cancer when she was just 43 years old in April 2017. Ruth's tumor was originally considered inoperable, but the couple found a doctor in Germany who took on the surgery. However, it didn't work, and the cancer spread.

After that, they decided they would stay positive and enjoy life, no matter how much time Ruth had left.

"She met up with friends, she carried on cycling because she loved cycling and it was a case of not being stuck in the hospital all the time or going for appointments all the time, getting out on that bike and feeling the wind on her hair," Tony told the Daily Mail.
