The couple came to visit Scotland.

Kate Middleton and Prince William arrived in Scotland for a short two-day visit. In Scotland they are no longer the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Instead, Kate and William are officially known as the Earl and Countess of Strathearn.

The reason is that a few hours before William and Kate got married in 2011, the queen gave William not one, but three titles.

When Prince Charles ascends the throne and becomes King of England, he will give his current title of Prince of Wales to William, and Kate will give up the "duchess" and become the Princess of Wales. According to COSMO, she will be the first person to use this title since Princess Diana owned it.
