The actor was surprised that the tribe, where there is no technology, knows him.

34-year-old Zac Efron told the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show that he was recognized by a tribe in Papua New Guinea because of his role as Troy Bolton.

Efron said that he lived during the trip in a tribe that is known as the crocodile people, because they live in the Sepik River, and they worship crocodiles and there is no technology there.

"A couple of guys with mobile phones came up to me — these are guys from the tribe. We FaceTime contacted their cousins, their wives and people who lived in other places around the world. They knew who I was all the time and didn't say anything about it!", PEOPLE quotes the actor.
